MANCHESTER — Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is welcoming the return of star striker Robinho who is set to make his long-awaited return from injury against Hull City on Saturday.

Robinho, who broke the British record when City brought him in from Real Madrid a few seasons ago, has been on the sidelines since August with a stress fracture of his ankle.

But after his long wait, the £32.5million Brazilian is now keen on helping City claim a top four spot in the Premier League and Hughes is delighted to have him back in service again.

“Robinho is an outstanding player,” Hughes said. “If anyone is out for a long period sometimes you can forget how accomplished they are.

“Having worked with him this week and seen him back in the group, we can see the qualities that he can bring to the side.

“We are delighted that he is back and fit and well because he will have a real influence for us this year I am sure.”

Robinho who is unlikely to play more half-an-hour is set to join the likes of Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz as the striking force for the world’s new richest club.
