Sir Alex Ferguson admits he has been pleased with the form of Reds striker Dimitar Berbatov this season as he looks set to recall the Bulgarian for United’s trip to Portsmouth on Saturday.

Berba recently became Bulgaria’s all-time leading scorer and has four goals to his name for the Reds so far this season, including valuable league openers against Stoke, Sunderland and Blackburn, but he hasn’t played for United in almost a month after suffering with a knee injury.

He was named ManUtd.com’s Player of the Month for October after a run of five games in which he was at his mercurial, skilful best (Liverpool defeat aside) and netted with two spectacular volleys at Old Trafford.

And now the 28-year-old is back from the knee injury that has forced him to miss three first-team games, he has received a firm endorsement from his manager.

“I have no complaints at all,” Sir Alex declared. “I think Dimitar is doing very well for us. His record at international level gives an indication of just how well he has done for his country, but he has scored important goals for us also.

“I have no worries about him. I am happy with his form, I am happy he is with us. I couldn’t be happier with him.”
