LONDON — Arsenal playmaker Cesc Fabregas has tipped Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard to be a better midfielder than Chelsea’s Frank Lampard.
The Spaniard who will come face-to-face with Lampard when Arsenal take on Chelsea in a Sunday evening fixture in the English Premier League, said he rates Lampard as a “great player,” but sees a different quality in Gerrard’s playing style.
“He’s still young, young enough to achieve so much more. For me he is one of the best midfielders in the world,” Fabregas said on Saturday.
“He looks like such a nice guy but he has this side to his game that comes through in important moments, when he makes an impact.
“Frank Lampard is a great player too, but for me I see something very special in Steven Gerrard.”
The Arsenal captain has been linked with several moves to Spain to join either Real Madrid or Barcelona in the new year, but said he has no intentions of leaving England and is loving his time at the English League club.
