MADRID — Real Madrid maintained their 100 percent record at home in La Liga this season with a slender 1-0 win over Racing Santander in La Liga on Saturday.

Gonzalo Higuain found the back of the net int he first half and his strike was enough to settle the game, although there were two goals controversially disallowed for offside.

The Argentina forward found the net in the 22nd minute after goalkeeper Antonio Rodriguez had failed to clear a shot from Kaka, as Real Madrid moved to 28 points from a possible 33 from their 11 games so far.

They have two points more than Barcelona, who can retake the lead when it plays Athletic Bilbao later Saturday.

“We have to take into account that some important players are missing due to injury,” Real Madrid director general Jorge Valdano said.

“We lacked brilliance and there were some boring spells, although we emerged with credit.”

Meanwhile, Sevilla beat promoted side Tenerife 2-1 away to keep the pressure on the leaders.
