LONDON — Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce is expected to be released from hospital on Saturday after he underwent a heart surgery earlier today.
Blackburn confirmed that Allardyce underwent an angioplasty – a medical procedure to correct narrowing to one branch of his coronary arteries and everything was a success.
“The procedure has gone well and Sam is expected to be discharged from hospital tomorrow,” the club doctor Phil Batty told the club’s official website.
And Allardyce himself added: “I would like to thank everyone who has sent messages of goodwill and the entire cardiology team.”
Allardyce will now spend a few days recuperating and it is anticipated that he could make a return to the dug-out for Blackburn’s Barclays Premier League home fixture with Liverpool on Saturday December 5th.
In the meantime, assistant manager Neil McDonald will remain in charge of first team.
