Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger says he does not believe money is the key to success in football.
Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich bought Chelsea in the summer of 2003 and ploughed millions of pounds into the team.
Since then the Stamford Bridge side’s success has often been put down to the amount of money at their disposal.
However, Wenger does not agree with the suggestion that money buys you success. But he does say it can help you out when things don’t go according to plan.
“I believe when you have mega-money you can do what you want but only because you can correct the mistakes,” he said.
“If you buy five wrong players and have the money, you can pay the five off and buy five new ones.
“If you have to respect your budget, every mistake you make costs money and you have to be able to afford that.”
