Pakistan pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar has slammed claims he had liposuction in a desperate move to regain fitness to tour with the national side to face Australia.
“I’m not fat. I don’t need liposuction. I’m a fit guy,” he told the Sydney Sunday Telegraph. “These claims have shocked my world. Everybody is talking about it.
“What people have to say about me just motivates me more.”
He added: “The truth is I am running and bowling. I am trying my best to get fit for the one-dayers.”
The 34-year-old fast bowler also blasted remarks which suggested he used steroids and that he was axed from the Twenty20 World Cup squad because he had genital warts.
He said: “I have never used that stuff. I don’t need to cheat. I have bowled more than 100mph for years, so why would I use drugs to enhance my performance?
“The PCB’s findings are a load of c**p. The truth is I had skin tags. A doctor who treated me wrote this in his report.
“It was very embarrassing when the PCB issued their statement.”
