Report: Chicago Fire to hire El Salvador coach Carlos de los Cobos as manager

USA Major League Soccer (MLS) side Chicago Fire are being linked with a move to bring former El Salvador national team coach Carlos de los Cobos to club as manager, reports are suggesting.

The 51-year old Mexican ended his stint as coach of La Selecta in mid-December and rumour has it that he his now doing negotiations with an unnamed club, believing to be Chicago.

De los Cobos, however, is keep things under tight lid, but said all the news will be known after this week.

“There is a lot of thoughtfulness in this negotiation and I want to respect the contact with them,” he was quoted as saying. “The management has asked me out of respect, and because my contract with El Salvador is valid, that I not mention the name of the team yet.

“But all is going very well and next week we could have news and reach a good agreement.”
