Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo is dreaming a most famous win over fellow La Liga side Barcelona in the Champions League final – and on their own home turf too.
The Spanish giants are the front runners in La Liga and are both on course for a dream final after both sides made the last 16 of Europe’s premier club competition, and Ronaldo would love nothing more than to dethrone Barcelona of their crown in their own back-yard.
“As much for the players as for the fans. I hope to meet Barcelona in this final and beat them,” the Portugal international told Correio da Manha.
“It would be a spectacle to be able to play the final in the Santiago Bernabeu.”
The former Manchester United star has been having a spectacular first season in Spain and has been the scoring machine, despite being sidelined for two months with an ankle injury.
Since his return he has scored four goals in as many games and the 24-year-old hopes his injury problems are firmly behind him.
“I hope I don’t have more injuries and so can help Real Madrid win all the competitions they are in this season,” added Ronaldo.
“And not just for next year but also for the future.”
He added: “I am full of confidence that we are going to get much better in the rest of the season.”
