Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is confident of completing negotiations to bring Argentina international Maxi Rodriguez to Anfield in the January transfer window, according to UK news media.
The Mirror reported that Atletico Madrid left the winger out for last weekend’s La Liga game against Sevilla for him to hold talks with Benitez about a potential switch to the English Premier League.
The report even claimed that Jurgen Milewski, agent of the 29-year-old revealed Monday night that a move was close to being finalised.
“I can say the chances of a transfer are high,” Milewski said.
Atletico could also end up with Italian full-back Andrea Dossena after it was revealed that he was part of the play swap plus clash package, although Roma and Napoli are said to be interested in the almost £5m defender.
