Fabio Capello and John Terry

It is now been confirmed that Chelsea captain John Terry has been dropped as captain of England.

England manager Fabio Capello who met with Terry Friday morning said he made the decision in the interest of the team, but noted that Terry was notified first.

“As the captain of the team John Terry has displayed positive behaviour, however, I have to take into account other considerations at what is best for all of the England squad,” Capello said in a statement.

He added: “What is best for all of the England team has inspired my choice. I would like to thank the FA for allowing me to make the decision.”

Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand looks likely to replace Terry as the captain, after he was named vice-captain to the Chelsea man by Capello.
