Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has reiterated his desire to return to Spanish giants Barcelona later in his career.
Fabregas has long been linked with a move back to the Catalan giants, where he spent six years as a youth-team player.
He played down Spanish reports that he could move back in the summer, telling Catalunya Radio: “I have not been called by anyone. Neither me or my agent. But I can only speak from what I know and answer what I know.
“I have never hidden the fact that one day I will return to Barcelona.
“Since I was nine months old, my grandfather would take me to the Barca stadium and I spent all my life wearing those colours.
“For one reason or another I had to go, but one never knows what can happen.
“Barcelona is the best city in the world to live in and the quality of life is great. I know it very well.
“I do not like the weather in London, but as a city it is spectacular. When I retire, I will live in Barcelona.”
Fabregas has been at Arsenal for over six years and continues to go from strength to strength.
The 22-year-old has scored 11 goals in 20 Barclays Premier League appearances this season and is enjoying his best campaign yet.
Ahead of Arsenal’s crunch clash at Chelsea tomorrow, Fabregas is not letting his future be a distraction as he focuses on his club duties, in the hope of being in prime shape for the World Cup.
He added: “I’m in the best form of my career, individually speaking, and I want to keep my mind in the present.
“There are four months of competition and we are doing well as a team.
“I want to be calm and to be able to centre myself in the Premier League and in the Champions League so that I can arrive at the World Cup in good form, that is another of my priorities.”
