Luis Suarez Scores On Debut, While Man City Held

Luis Suarez made an immediate impression on his debut as Liverpool collected a 2-0 victory over Stoke in Barclay’s Premier League action on Wednesday.

The Uruguay striker who joined Liverpool from Ajax this week, came off the bench to double the hosts lead in the 79th minute.

Portuguese midfielder Raul Meireles kept up his recent goalscoring form by opening the scoring in the 47th minute after both sides played to a dull 0-0 draw in the first 45-minutes.

In other results, Victor Obinna scored twice to take his tally to five in two games and Robbie Keane netted on his debut as West Ham beat Blackpool 3-1, Bolton edged Wolves 1-0.

There were similar results for Fulham over Newcastle and Tottenham over Blackburn, while Manchester City squandered their lead twice and had to share the points with Birmingham in the 2-2 tie at St Andrew’s
