Gerrard Joins Ferdinand On Injured List, Misses Denmark Clash
Steven Gerrard has been ruled out of the England squad that will play in a friendly international with Denmark on Wednesday because of injury.
The Liverpool captain, who would have been the first choice candidate to lead the national side in the absence of Rio Ferdinand, who is also injured – suffered a groin problem on Sunday.
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish confirmed that Gerrard would report for assessment with the England doctors but has ruled him out of making an appearance in the match.
“He has a groin problem,” said Dalglish.
“He has to go so they (England) can have a look at him but we’ve spoken to England and he’ll not be playing.”
Gerrard was part of Liverpool’s team which defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday – a game Fernando Torres made his debut for the Blues against his former employers
