MANCHESTER — Manchester City have reportedly joined in the bidding for Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero after Chelsea apparently had their £53million offer turned down.
According Madrid newspaper AS, the Manchester City, still trying to find the right formula to full their initial season objective of finishing in the top four in the league, have made clear their desire to bring the Argentine ace at Eastlands.
Reports at the weekend suggested that Chelsea were close to signing the forward, but the news now claims that Atletico apparently rejected their offer of an initial £44m plus add-ons at Aguero’s request to see out the rest of the season with the La Liga side who are currently struggling in the table.
Aguero showed signs of his quality when he scored twice and set up the other two in Atletico’s 4-0 victory over Espanyol on Sunday. He said he loves playing at his current club, but also admitted this could be his last season in Spain.
